Driving Directions to Helen GA
FROM ATLANTA
VIA I-85
Take I-85 North to I-85/I-985 interchange at Exit 113 (I-985 is a left-side exit). Follow I-985/U.S. 23 (Sidney Lanier Parkway) North. I-985/U.S. 23 becomes U.S. 23/GA-365 after you pass Exit 24. Continue on U.S. 23/GA-365 for about 20 miles until GA 384 (Duncan Bridge Rd.) Turn left onto GA-384 (Duncan Bridge Rd.) and follow for approximately 16.5 miles until it ends at GA Hwy 75/Helen Highway. Take a right onto GA Hwy 75 and follow approximately 3 miles into the village of Alpine Helen.
VIA GA 400
Take GA 400 North until it ends. Continue straight onto GA-115 (Long Branch Rd.) for about 4.8 miles to the intersection with GA-52 (traffic light). Turn right onto GA-115/GA-52 (Cleveland Hwy.) and follow towards Cleveland, GA. At the square in Cleveland, follow signs for Helen (left to 129N/GA-75). At the next stoplight (Huddle House on left corner/Ingles on far right corner), take a right onto GA Hwy 75 towards Helen. Continue approximately 7 miles, which brings you right into the village of Alpine Helen.
FROM SOUTH CAROLINA AND POINTS NORTH (via I-85 South)
Take I-85 South across the Georgia/South Carolina border about 5 or 6 miles to exit #173 (GA-17, Lavonia/Toccoa). At the end of the exit ramp turn left to take GA-17 north towards Toccoa. After about 11.5 miles (a little before Toccoa), GA-17 splits with Alt. GA-17. Turn left onto GA-17/Toccoa Bypass (do not take Alt. GA-17 through Toccoa). After about 5 miles GA-17 will become GA-17 North/GA-365 South/US-123 South. Continue on GA-17/GA-365/US-123 about 5 miles until it meets up with US-23/US-441/GA-15/GA-365. Go straight at the light to take US-23/US-441/GA-15/GA-365 (also known as the Tommy Irvin Pkwy.) south for about 7.5 miles to the Cornelia/Demorest Exit (Historic B.R. 441 N/GA-105 W). At the end of the exit ramp turn left. Follow B.R. 441 North/GA-105 West for about 0.3 miles. At the light, turn left onto Cannon Bridge Rd./GA-105. Follow GA-105/Cannon Bridge Rd. for 4.8 miles to GA-115/Clarkesville Hwy. At the 4-way stop, turn left onto GA-115/Clarkesville Hwy and follow for 2.7 miles to GA-384 (Duncan Bridge Rd). Turn right onto GA-384 (Duncan Bridge Rd.) and continue for about 8 miles until it ends at GA Hwy 75 (Helen Hwy). Take a right onto GA Hwy 75 and follow approximately 3 miles into the village of Alpine Helen.
FROM TENNESSEE AND POINTS NORTH (via I-75 South)
Take I-75 south to Georgia exit #336 U.S. 76/U.S. 41 at Dalton & Rocky Face, GA. Turn right at the end of the exit ramp
Follow U.S. 76 East/U.S 41 South/GA-3 South for a little over 6 miles. At this point U.S. 41 & GA-3 and U.S. 76 split -- be sure to stay on U.S. 76 East towards Chatsworth, GA (this will also be GA-52). Take U.S. 76/GA-52 East for a little over 8 miles to Chatsworth, GA where it meets up with U.S 411 and turn right. Follow U.S 76 East/U.S. 411 South for about 6.6 miles to Ramhurst, GA. Turn left and then immediately to the right to stay U.S. 76 East, which is now also GA-282 East. After about 2.3 miles be sure to turn left to stay on U.S. 76/GA-282 East towards Ellijay. Follow U.S. 76/GA-282 for a little over 17 miles to East Ellijay where it meets up with GA-52. At the stop sign, turn left and then immediately again to the right to stay on GA-52 East (you will no longer be on U.S. 76). Follow GA-52 East through Dahlonega, GA. Just past the Wal-Mart, turn right to stay on GA-52 East. A few miles past Dahlonega, GA-115 North joins GA-52 East. Follow GA-115 North/GA-52 East until they split (about 2 miles) and stay on GA-115 North. Continue on GA-115 to the square in Cleveland. Follow the signs to Helen, GA (left to 129N/GA-75). At the next stoplight (Huddle House on left corner/Ingles on far right corner), take a right onto GA Hwy 75 towards Helen and continue approximately 7 miles into the village of Alpine Helen.
FROM WESTERN GEORGIA, ALABAMA AND POINTS WEST (Via I-20 East)
Follow I-20 East towards Atlanta. At the Exit #51B (I-85/I-285 interchange) take I-285 North (towards Chattanooga). Continue on I-285 for about 22 miles until the I-85 interchange (exit #33B). Take I-85 North (towards Greenville) to I-85/I-985 interchange at Exit 113 (I-985 is a left-side exit) Follow I-985/U.S. 23 (Sidney Lanier Parkway) North. I-985/U.S. 23 becomes U.S. 23/GA-365 after you pass Exit 24. Continue on U.S. 23/GA-365 for about 20 miles until GA 384 (Duncan Bridge Rd.) Turn left onto GA-384 (Duncan Bridge Rd.) and follow for approximately 16.5 miles until it ends at GA Hwy 75/Helen Highway. Take a right onto GA Hwy 75 and follow approximately 3 miles into the village of Alpine Helen.
FROM WESTERN GEORGIA, ALABAMA, AND POINTS WEST (Via I-85 North)
Follow I-85 North towards Atlanta to I-285 (exit #68). At the I-85/I-285 interchange take I-285 East/I-85 North (towards Macon, Augusta, Greenville). I-85 North and I-285 East are the same road for about 2 miles at which point I-85 North splits off towards downtown (stay on I-285 unless you wish to go directly through downtown Atlanta, which is not advisable most of the time)** Continue on I-285 until it meets back up with I-85 (about 28 miles). Take I-85 North (towards Greenville) to I-85/I-985 interchange at Exit 113 (I-985 is a left-side exit). Follow I-985/U.S. 23 (Sidney Lanier Parkway) North. I-985/U.S. 23 becomes U.S. 23/GA-365 after you pass Exit 24. Continue on U.S. 23/GA-365 for about 20 miles until GA 384 (Duncan Bridge Rd). Turn left onto GA-384 (Duncan Bridge Rd.) and follow for approximately 16.5 miles until it ends at Hwy 75/Helen Highway. Take a right onto GA Hwy 75 and follow approximately 3 miles into the village of Alpine Helen.
FROM CENTRAL GEORGIA AND FLORIDA (Via I-75 North)
If you are coming from south of Macon, Ga.; Just before Macon at exit #156, take I-475 North to bypass Macon (note: I-475 is a left-hand exit). I-475 will rejoin I-75 North at mile marker 177 past Macon. Just before Atlanta at exit #227, take I-675 North to I-285. At the I-675/I-285 interchange take I-285 East (towards Augusta, Greenville). Continue on I-285 until the I-85 interchange (exit #33). Take I-85 North (towards Greenville) to I-85/I-985 interchange at Exit 113 (I-985 is a left-side exit). Follow I-985/U.S. 23 (Sidney Lanier Parkway) North. I-985/U.S. 23 becomes U.S. 23/GA-365 after you pass Exit 24. Continue on U.S. 23/GA-365 for about 20 miles until GA 384 (Duncan Bridge Rd). Turn left onto GA-384 (Duncan Bridge Rd) and follow for approximately 16.5 miles until it ends at GA Hwy 75/Helen Highway. Take a right onto GA Hwy 75 and follow approximately 3 miles into the village of Alpine Helen.
FROM EASTERN GEORGIA AND SOUTH CAROLINA (Via I-20 West)
From Eastern Georgia and South Carolina. Follow I-20 West towards Atlanta. At the Exit #172 (Thomson, GA), take U.S. 78/GA-17/GA-10 North towards Washington, GA (alternately you could take I-20 to Exit #114 and follow U.S. 441 North to Athens and then continue with the directions below).
As you approach Washington, turn left onto GA-47/U.S. 78 Business Rt./GA-10 Business Rt. (also known as Robert Toombs Ave). Follow GA-47/U.S. 78 Business Route through Washington, GA until it reconnects with U.S. 78. Turn left onto U.S. 78/GA-10 and follow towards Athens, GA. As you near Athens, get onto the Athens Perimiter Highway northbound (also known as U.S. 129 North/U.S. 29 North/U.S. 441 North/GA-10 Business Loop/GA-15). Follow Athens Perimeter Highway/US-441, US-129 North to Exit #10B Exit #10B will keep you on US-441, US-129 North/Athens Perimeter Highway. Exit the Athens Perimeter Highway at Exit #12. At the end of the off-ramp turn right onto US-441/GA-15 North. Follow US-441/GA-15 North towards Commerce, GA. To avoid going directly through Commerce stay on U.S. 441 North (Business 441-North will rejoin U.S. 441 North, but is a slower route). Continue on U.S. 441/GA-15 North towards Baldwin, GA (this road will also become GA-198 when you reach the Chattahoochee National Forest). As you approach Baldwin, at the point where US-441 meets up with U.S. 123 and Business U.S. 441 turns off to the right, turn left onto Willingham Ave. (might also be signed as U.S. 23). Follow Willingham Avenue for a little over a mile and turn right onto Duncan Bridge Rd. (When you cross U.S. 23/GA-365 Duncan Bridge Rd. will also become GA-384). Continue on GA-384 (Duncan Bridge Rd.) and follow for approximately 16.5 miles until it ends at GA Hwy 75/Helen Highway. Take a right onto GA Hwy 75 and follow approximately 3 miles into the village of Alpine Helen.
